Mahalath
Mahalath [Heb. makhalat]. A personal name.
1. One of Esau's wives, a daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebajoth (Gen 28:9). Esau married Mahalath to gain Isaac's favor when he heard him command Jacob to marry someone from his family in Padam Aram, and seeing that his Cannanite wives did not please him (Gen 28:6-9).
2. Daughter of Jerimoth, David's son with Abihail, and one of King Rehoboam's eighteen wives (2 Chr 11:18-21). Mahalath gave birth to Jeush, Shamariah, and Zaham (2 Chr 11:19).
