Mammon
Mammon [Grk. mammōnas from Aram. mamon "riches," "wealth"].
The word is used in Matthew 6:24 and Luke 16:9-13 where Jesus warns people that a double allegiance to God and mammon is impossible and thus urges them to undivided devotion to God. Symbolically, the word denotes the personification of the "god of riches."
